The battery level indicator lets you know when to recharge the built-in battery via the micro-USB port.  A 600 lumen burst (1 minute before downshift) and ultra low 4 lumen with 200 hrs of runtime highlight the six lighting modes making sure you have just the right amount of light for your activity.  The overlapping headband ensures a secure fit.
